After the announcement of the cancellation of 'Wayward Pines' on FOX Channel, there are alleged reports circulating on the internet that there could be hope for the 2nd season of the show. Shyamalan is currently in talks with the TV series' author and writers to come up with the new season's storyline. However, there are rumors where the show's creator might not be involved in the production of the upcoming season.
Shyamalan stated that if the series is indeed resurrected, he has a plan of working with 'Wayward Pines' trilogy author, Blake Crouch for a sophomore season as mentioned on IB Times.
The showrunner and executive producer M. Night Shyamalan addresses the issues regarding 'Wayward Pines' during his interview in Fox 5 NY. He stated that there is indeed a possibility for a pick-up from where the previous season has ended.
In addition to that, Shyamalan shares that he has been talking to the writers and author so they can settle with an ending and how they can work the story plot backwards. If the writers come up with a perfect storyline, the creator will pursue the next season. He adds that if he can only create the show's end point by himself, then he will do it on his own. The showrunner even pointed out that he is only waiting for "an end point to the plot"
Aside that sad news broke that if ever the show might be renewed, Shyamalan will be working on the sequel of 'The Last Airbender'. Ecumenical News also mentions that, the 'Wayward Pines' creator will also be working on another thriller which will be filmed in Philadelphia with Joaquin Phoenix.
With the possibilities of Shyamalan leaving the show and Blake Couch given the power to bring the show to its end, fans should remain hooked to see the exciting episodes of the upcoming season of the show.
