Lindsay Lohan's defamation case against Fox News was thrown out by a New York judge last week. The 29-year-old former child star and her mother, Dina Lohan, filed a case against the channel after comments of both Lindsay and her mom doing drugs were made and aired on national TV.
In a report from US Magazine, last September 18, Lindsay Lohan and mother Dina Lohan's case against Fox News was trashed by a judge, stating "truth is a defense" against defamation. It was noted that the news channel aired a portion featuring TV host Sean Hannity and TV personality Michelle Fields making comments to the duo and how they are taking drugs such as cocaine.
According to the Daily Mail UK, the "Mean Girls" actress and her 53-year-old mom filed separate complaints against the news channel and the two personnels involved. Though the segment including the drug comments were made back in February 2014, it wasn't until February of this year that the two Lohan's took action.
After the judge ruled against the Lohan's, he also added and reminded the mother and daughter that they are both public figures. According to the judge, any claims of defamation required the comment to be made with malice; however in their case, the judge did not see any at all.
Though both cases were dropped against the popular channel and their host, it's not yet been confirmed whether the charges against Michelle Field have been dropped, too. Metro UK reported that Lindsay has admitted to taking drugs in the past, but refused to call herself a drug addict stating she only did it 10-15 times. A recording of Lindsay calling her father stating "Dad, she's (Dina) on cocaine" also previously leaked, not going in the duo's favour.
With Lindsay Lohan and mom Dina Lohan's case being thrown away, it looks like the two will simply have to move on from the whole dramatic situation Currently, Lohan is currently enjoying London Fashion Week while reps of the star are being contacted for their comments and thoughts of the situation.
