Apple issued a resolution for users who are stucked on their devices while on the process of iOS 9 update. The company said that iOS users can create a backup file and wipe the device to be able to address the error. There are also steps that Apple published in order to guide the users.
The register noted a specific user who experienced a frozen screen showing, "Slide to Upgrade" while on the process of update to iOS9. One of the users said in the report, "I cannot progress past the second request to 'slide to upgrade' page." Nevertheless, related report said that Apple released a resolution to resolve such issue by creating a backup file and then wiping the device.
As such, an exclusive support page of Apple listed the procedure on how to get out from the "Slide to Upgrade" screen. First, users must connect the device to a computer with the recently synced iTunes. Second, force restart the device by pressing and holding Sleep/Wake and Home button simultaneously for at least 10 seconds until Apple logo appears. Third, restore the device from the backup if iTunes backup has been made, if not, make a backup first in the iTunes and then do the restore.
Moreover, if the issue continues upon following the above procedure, Apple support said that users must restore the device or press and hold both Sleep/Wake and Home button for at least 10 seconds until it restarts and appears in iTunes, and then choose Restore. Then set up the device as new.
9to5Mac suggested that if iOS device is protected with Find My iPhone, users must temporarily remove it by logging in to iCloud.com. The report added that if this didn't work, users must contact Apple Care or visit Apple Store for more assistance.
Such workaround from Apple can hopefully resolve the issue of those who update to iOS 9.
