'Devious Maids': Showrunners Sabrina Wind and Brian Tanen Talk Season 3 Finale’s Cliffhangers & Plans for Season 4

By

"Devious Maids" concluded its third season on a shocking note, revealing the killer’s identity for the string of murders that plagued the neighborhood. The final hour also said goodbye to a character after being the victim of a fatal gunshot.

Zap2it wrote that the episode also tackled Zoila’s pregnancy labor which later erupted into a major complication that could jeopardize both her life and her newborn. Elsewhere, Peri resurfaced to see what she can benefit from her ex-hubby’s amnesia.

After capping off with so many loose ends, the show still has a lot of explaining to do with its thousands of followers. Season three’s finale titled “Anatomy of a Murder” marked another event of mysteries and cliffhangers. Unfortunately, viewers are gonna have to wait until the Marc Cherry-produced drama is officially renewed for a fourth season.

As we wait for the announcement, executive producer Brian Tanen offered his thoughts behind the team’s creative decision of unfolding several loose ties by the end of the hour. “This was what I call a kitchen-sink finale. We felt like the best strategy was to go big or go home. We really wanted it to be the most exciting possible episode so we just went for it”, the showrunner explained in a recent postmortem interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

Tanen also revealed his early plans for Mirasol & Co. should "Devious Maids" gets picked up by Lifetime for a fourth season. “We have talked about various strategies, but I will say that at the beginning of every year we deviate quite a bit from the plan when we figure out who our new characters are going to be. I wouldn’t place any bets right now on what’s going to happen. It’s a little bit up in the air.”

As for the fate of Adrian – who found himself in an explosion -- co-executive producer Sabrina Wind dropped a brief tease about his fate. “Let’s just say we have a really great story to tell with that,” Wind commented in an interview with TV Line.

"Devious Maids’" third season ended with a multitude of shocking cliffhangers. Should Lifetime renew the show for a fourth season, executive producer Brian Tanen echoed his thoughts about their plans – giving fans a new perspective.
