The second part of Castle’s season 8 premiere will delve on Beckett’s sudden disappearance. While the first hour will allow viewers to see the events unfold from Rick’s point of view, the succeeding hour will relate the unfortunate happenings from Kate’s end.
According to the episode description released by the ABC Network, Kate Beckett (Stana Katic) will find herself on a run for her life when a team of mercenaries wants her dead. Meanwhile, viewers will then find Castle (Nathan Fillion) initiate an investigation of her wife’s decision to exit town. By episode’s end, Kate’s life will be on the line as she hurries to piece the puzzle behind the mysterious plot before the culprit can finish the job.
The network also announced that Jack Coleman will reprise his role as Senator Will Bracken in the episode. The "Heroes Reborn" star will be joined by Sunkrish Bala, Coby Ryan and Daisy Betts.
Another event abound on the Sept. 28 installment is a warm welcoming party for Beckett. As seen on these promotional photos released by TV Line, it is evident that the 12th precinct together with Castle are very much proud of Beckett’s latest promotion as captain.
While it is not uncommon for a TV series to deliver a special two-hour premiere, the team behind Castle made a wise decision to unravel the first two episodes from Rick and Kate’s perspective, separately. According to CarterMatt, this allows for both characters to focus heavily on individual strengths. “It is a chance to Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic in each their own individual moment in the sun, and it seems as though there is going to be some interesting stuff to surround them,” the site commented.
The second part of Castle’s eighth season premiere titled “XX” will delve on Kate’s disappearance while also launching a thrilling arc for the new captain as she tries to find the mysterious figure who wants her dead.
