"Hawaii Five-0" is back for another action-packed season beginning this Friday on CBS. When we last checked-in in the cop drama, the team raced to track a stolen nuclear bomb, Catherine stunned McGarrett when she resurfaced on the island, while Chin had a face-to-face with Adam -- confronting him about his past associations with the Yakuza.
The upcoming sixth season will move forward with the usual weekly cases fans have enjoyed over the past years and the Sept. 25th premiere is no exception. Hawaii Five-0 fans will be treated to a Pirate of the Carribean-themed episode on the show’s first hour. According to an episode description released by The Futon Critic, “A murder leads Five-0 to investigate a centuries-old Oahu palace raid involving pirates, buried treasure and a killer who is using a stolen painting as a map.”
To give more insight about the special installment, executive producer Peter Lenkov offered some intel about the season 6 opener in a report from TV Line. “[The premiere is] “loosely based on a legend that pirates attacked the island in the 1880s, so we actually open up the season seeing that pirate attack in a flashback,” the showrunner said. Later adding how the episode paralleled to Johnny Depp’s hit pirate film, “It’s our version of Pirates of the Caribbean, where pirates are attacking the palace and the streets of Waikiki. And that sort of launches us into a modern-day treasure hunt for what they had stolen,” he continued.
While all this is going down, romance will fill the air for some Five-0 lovers this fall. Entertainment Weekly reported that viewers will find Steve planning to pop up the question to Michelle Borth’s Catherine. The site also unveiled a sneak peek image of McGarrett – as he shows off the ring he’ll be using to propose to Catherine.
Hawaii Five-0 will return with a special Pirates of a Carribean-themed episode on its sixth season. Titled “Mai ho`oni i ka wai lana mâlie”, the season opener will also find Steve planning to pop the question to Catherine. Catch the exciting series premiere on Friday, Sept. 25 at 10PM.
