CW’s well-watched series, "iZombie", returns for its sophomore run this fall. By the way things capped off last May, a series of dramatic events are on tap for Liv & Co. In retrospect, season one’s finale found Major almost becoming a full-blown zombie, Blaine got cured, and Liv’s lil brother got caught in an explosion. The latter became the biggest hurdle for Liv, as she wrested whether to save/turn him into a zombie.
Going into season two, comic book adaptation will move forward with more cases for Liv and Det. Babineux to investigate. As per CW’s episode description released via The Futon Critic, “Liv consumes the brains of a cantankerous old man to help gain insight into his death.” This arc will bring her and Malcolm Goodwin’s Babineaux questioning a mysterious caller after receiving a tip on a hotline. This also explains why the second season opener is titled “Grumpy Old Liv”, giving a direct reference to Liv’s current mood after filling her appetite with an old man’s brain.
Elsewhere, Rahul Kohli’s Ravi will be suspicious of Major’s actions. Apparently, Liv’s former flame is kind of experiencing some unwanted side effects of the zombie cure. This is another storyline to look out for, and it could potentially hint that Major is being morphed into the new Big Bad of the series from the negative outcome of the medicine. We’ll still have to wait and see how this all works out.
The network also released sneak peek images of the episode where we find Liv, Ravi and Babineaux at an outdoor crime scene. The gallery also featured stills of Blaine and Vaughn.
To keep fans in the loop, creator/showrunner Rob Thomas has offered the latest intel about the new bunch of episodes in a recent chat with TV Line. “Well, there are no more scenes at Meat Cute. That has been blown up, and Blaine has a new business we will reveal in the first episode,” the executive producer teased. Thomas also added that the show’s heroine has been an outcast with her loved ones -- “Liv is, largely, on the outs with people close to her,” he continued.
The second season opener of "iZombie" will find Liv consuming a brain of a grumpy, old man. It will also explore Ravi’s discovery of the zombie cure’s side effects given to Major in season one’s finale. The Rob Thomas-produced series will launch its second season beginning on Tuesday, Oct. 6th on the CW.
