The NVCA (National Venture Capital Association) announced on Tuesday that it has named Bobby Franklin as its next president and Chief Executive Officer. Franklin's new position is effective on September 2013. Franklin's previous work was at CTIA - The Wireless Association, where he held the position of executive vice-president. He replaces Mark Neesen who is named president emeritus of the company. NVCA is based in Arlington, Virginia. The NVCA is an association for venture capitalists.
Chariman of NVCA Josh Green stated that: "We approached this search with a great deal of rigor and a high set of expectations as our industry demands integrity, passion and a vision for the future."
"The fact that we had more than a hundred applicants for the job evidences the outstanding reputation of the NVCA. The excitement and overwhelming consensus that formed around Bobby Franklin is a testament to his credentials and ability to drive the Association forward in a manner that best serves the venture capital industry," Green explained.
Mark Neesen said the he intends to play "a supportive role in the transition" when asked about his exit.
