Daredevil may still be on a hiatus break but a slew of developments are already taking place for its upcoming sophomore season. Some fresh additions to the cast and exciting new plot elements have alerted the Marvel fandom in recent weeks. Behind the scenes, the Netflix-produced series is also going to involve a former showrunner on its latest run.
On the show's latest casting news, Scott Glenn has boarded the show's second run -- according to a report by Deadline. Glenn will reprise his role as Stick, the mentor of Matt Murdock as a child and will resurface on the show with a new mission for Daredevil. He has booked three episodes in the upcoming second season.
"The Bourne Ultimatum" actor's reappearance on the series had the Daredevil team psyched. Showrunner Marco Ramirez has teased the actor’s return in a report from Movie Pilot. "In some ways, Stick is to Marvel's Daredevil what Scott Glenn has been to film and TV - a magnetic and awesome force to be reckoned with. It's an honour to welcome him back, and the Daredevil team can't wait to unleash Scott's unique brand of badassery upon the world in Season 2," the producer commented.
In other developments, it has been reported that previous showrunner Drew Goddard will still play a role in creating the 13-episode second season. A recent report from Collider cited that Goddard is still involved, despite exiting the show due to prior engagements. “My job is wonderful which is—I mean my friends are running it, Marco [Ramirez] and Doug [Petrie], and when I say, ‘What do you guys need?’ they say, ‘Come in, talk.’ That’s how it works, I’m still the executive producer. I show up and we talk about Matt Murdock and I say, ‘Do you need any more help?’ and they say, ‘No,’ and then I leave (laughs),” he explained.
Daredevil will continue to tell the story of Matt Murdock -- the iconic sightless character of Marvel -- who fights injustice as a lawyer by day and a superhero at night -- when it returns to Netflix in 2016. Sources have reported that the second season will feature the return of pivotal character, Stick, played by Scott Glenn. Drew Goddard, a former showrunner of the series, has also discussed his ongoing involvement with the creative team.
