One of the highlights of "Once Upon A Time" season 5 will be Emma’s exploration of her dark side. Last season, Jennifer Morrison’s character made a shocking sacrifice for Regina – a major arc which ultimately made her turn as the Dark Swan.

The aforementioned storyline may be the biggest event fans are looking forward to this fall, but some new developments have also emerged that promise to give an even meatier season five.

Last week, Entertainment Weekly has learned that "Once Upon A Time" will explore on the buzzy LGBT storyline. Showrunner Eddy Kitsis weighed-in on the upcoming plot, acknowledging that they are aware of the LGBT’s huge support to the fantasy series. “We know that community have been big supporters of the show and we would love to be able to tell a love story that reflects that,” Kitsis said.

Co-creator Adam Horowitz also echoed his thoughts admitting that they want the show to represent the current happenings of our generation.

“We want the show to reflect the world as it is now,” added co-creator Adam Horowitz. “Whether that’s going to be with any particular character, we’re not going to say. It’s something we want to do this year. It’s something we think is due and important to do on the show,” he explained.

The new bunch of episodes will also feature familiar faces. As for the latest casting news, E! Online has shared that Jamie Chung will reprise her role as Mulan in season 5. Fans last saw the character in season 3 in quite a complicated state. She ran away with Robin Hood after learning that the love of her life, Princess Aurora, got pregnant with another man.

Meghan Ory will also resurface as Ruby, TV Line reports. The "Supernatural" actress, whom fans last saw two years ago, is slated to appear in multi-episodes of season five. She was the counterpart of Red Riding Hood in Storybrooke.

"Once Upon A Time" season five will open with the aftermath of Emma becoming the Dark Swan. The hit fantasy series will tackle the LGBT arc in the coming weeks. Familiar faces will also reappear -- Jamie Chung and Meghan Ory are set to reprise their roles as Mulan and Ruby, respectively.
