iPad Pro Requires Office 365 Subscription To Run Microsoft Office Apps; Device To Be Release On November?

By

Microsoft Office apps on the iPhone and iPad are free to use. However, an Office 365 subscription is required for iPad Pro users due to the bigger screen. Apple's newest device is predicted to be launched this November.

It's easier to edit documents on desktop computers or laptops. The price for the whole suite of Office apps are also cheaper than the subscription type. However, there will be times that going mobile is the only option.

Apple recently introduced the iPad Pro a few weeks ago. Fans and tablet lovers became excited at the larger and more powerful tablet from the Cupertino-based company.

For those who love to bring their work with them, the new tablet could be a good substitute when a laptop simply isn't available. Apple has also launched an attachable Smart Keyboard for the tablet which makes it all the easier to edit documents.

However, Microsoft Office apps now need an Office 360 subscription if they are to be run on the new iPad Pro. The price for the subscription starts at £5.99 per month up to £59.99, which saves the user two months worth of subscription if the yearly option is chosen. A month-long trial is also available for free, according to Digital Spy.

Initially, iOS devices only required an Office 365 subscription for users who wanted to create a brand new document. It also required iOS device users if they wanted to edit a document.

Viewing and reading files that were emailed to a user was free at the time. In 2014, Microsoft allowed the free use of Office apps with all functions available. iPhone and iPad users could freely edit or create new documents using the apps. iPad Pro users are not so lucky.

Still, there are benefits to having an actual Office 365 subscription. The users can make use of Microsoft's OneDrive for easier access to files, according to IT Wire.

Apple's iPad Pro has a 12.9-inch display, which is above the threshold of 10.1 inches Microsoft set for free access to their Microsoft Office apps. The apps include Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, OneNote and others.

The new tablet has no release date yet. However, BGR reports that it could be in November before the massive shopping Black Friday.

Due to the bigger size of the iPad Pro, Microsoft Office apps will require an Office 365 subscription. It might be worth it considering that it can be used with an attachable Smart Keyboard.
