While Rage Against The Machine bassist Tim Commerford is currently promoting his new band, Wakrat, he suddenly made a cynical apology to Limp Bizkit. But fans of Limp Bizkit actually think that the RATM's apology came as a trash talk or a bash to the other band.
"I do apologize for Limp Bizkit," RATM's Commerford directly stated in a recent interview with Rolling Stone. He added, "I really do. I feel really bad that we inspired such bullshit." However, this wasn't the most offensive words the bassist spoke out about the nu-metal band. He followed it up by showing an absolute lack of awareness that Fred Durst's rap-rockers were still a going concern. "They're gone, though," the bassist continued. "That's the beautiful thing. There's only one left, and that's Rage, and as far as I'm concerned, we're the only one that matters."
According to The Guardian, it did not take long before the news that Rage Against the Machine is somehow not fully proud of their influence on pop culture was pretty hard to chew for Limp Bizkit and their fans. The rock band is known for covering the RATM's 1992 song "Killing in the Name" and in their 2014 performance in New York, Durst had even honored the "rap-rock band that started this shit". Then, later on he claimed that the song basically changed his life, pointing to his heart while stating, "When I first heard this song, that shit hit me right the fuck here."
But this was not the first time that Commerford somewhat trash talked Limp Bizkit. In fact, in 2000, he went to a Limp Bizkit acceptance speech at the MTV VMAs, climbing up the backdrop until the security was forced to take him down from the scene.
The bassist was even dethroned for a night in jail after being arrested for disorderly conduct, but as reported by Blabbermouth, he claimed that he should have gone further."I wish I would've swung on that thing and brought it to the ground and just destroyed it," he said. "If I could do it all over again, I would've ripped that thing to the ground and shredded it."
Meanwhile, amidst all the bashing and trash talking, Limp Bizkit members remained silent about the comments made by the bassist. And despite his harsh comments, Commerford is now promoting his new band, Wakrat. He also started an electronic music project earlier this year called "Future User". Moreover, Rage Against the Machine's new DVD, "Live At Finsbury Park", is set to be released October 16.
