Previously, British actress Emma Watson opened up about Sexism in Hollywood, which she has seen unequal treatment on women. Now, American actor Rob Lowe also expressed his feelings about sexism, this time on men and shows it through his new comedy show, "The Grinder"
According to the E! News, 51-year old Rob Lowe had a recent interview with Vulture. The American actor speaks up about the objectification of men in the television. Fox latest comedy show, "The Grinder" starring Rob Lowe explains how men characters are degraded on TV shows through parodies of his latest show.
He told on the interview, "People go on and on about the objectification of women, and rightly so," Lowe said, "But, what about the objectification of men? When was the last time you saw Grey's Anatomy?"
Rob Lowe added, explaining more about his character, "We did a whole sequence of why [Dean Sanderson] left The Grinder. And the reason he left is he felt objectified," Lowe revealed. So what I love about this show is these wry, insightful looks at contemporary culture in entertainment as seen through the eyes of a regular Idaho family."
Lowe takes the role of Dean Sanderson, an actor who's taking the role of a lawyer on a primetime show also titled as The Grinder. Though Lowe starred on the show, the actor is also the producer of the comedy show, the Vulture reported.
According to the People, the actor also teased the audience on their next episode. Actor Jason Alexander was the producer of the The Grinder in the show. The funny part is, Rob's character on the show was then forced to strip his top clothes.
"I very slowly and shamefully unbutton my shirt and then he looks at me and I realize what he wants to see is nipple, "It's a parody of that great Irene Cara scene in Fame, which I've never forgotten. There's nothing funnier than a sad, shameful stripper, when played by a man." the actor said.Rob also jokingly says he had leave his "dignity" at the altar of comedy.
