'Divergent: Allegiant', the first of the 2-part installment of the ending of 'The Divergent Series', has promised to be more faithful to the book, as confirmed by author Veronica Roth. The author also released a collector's edition of the 'Divergent: Allegiant' book, containing bonus content.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the trailer of 'Divergent: Allegiant' looks like it will be sticking to the book's details. Many of the Divergent fans were disappointed with the previous movie, 'Divergent: Insurgent.' Due to the liberties taken in the film, the plot was largely different from that of the book's. 'Divergent: Allegiant' promises a more faithful adaptation of the final book of the bestselling novel trilogy.
However, this also means that the ending will be followed to the letter. According to Movie News Guide, the protagonist Tris, Shailene Woodley's character, dies in the end of 'The Divergent Series', and the same will be happening in the movie should it really follow the novel closely until the end. While there is a petition to feature a different fate for Tris in the movie, Roth herself seem to confirm nothing of the sort will be happening.
Roth explained the necessity of Tris' death in the 'Divergent: Allegiant' book (split to a two-part movie adaptation, the second of which is named 'Divergent: Ascendant'). Citing that it has "to be about love" and Tris understanding her parents' lesson, Roth says that the character grows to make a decision that she has to do, regardless of her willingness to do it.
More of this character development can be seen in the book itself, which has a collector's edition launched, according to Entertainment Weekly. 'Divergent: Allegiant' special collector's edition featuresa whopping 48 pages of bonus content. This details deleted scenes and excerpts from Natalie Prior's journal. The special edition book hit the shelves Oct. 6.
'Divergent: Allegiant' is not out until 18 March 2016, but fans can already brace themselves for more action. As it was in the books, the stakes are higher, and the intensity will build up to the choice Tris makes in the end. That will be seen in 'Divergent: Ascendant' on 24 March 2017.
