Microsoft Band 2: More Refined, Less Bulky Fitness Wearable arriving in Stores on October 30

Microsoft has just unveiled its next-generation fitness wearable, the Microsoft Band 2. This smart bracelet is now available for preorders and is set to arrive in stores on October 30 with a retail price of $249.

The first-generation Microsoft Band was launched October last year. It was a bit bulky and uncomfortable to wear, but it was surprisingly a success in the market. Thus, Microsoft has decided to address those issues with its latest fitness wearable offering.

Microsoft Band 2 has an almost the same design like the last band. It still wraps around the wrist with a clasp and it is in all black color. However, it is more refined, a little less bulky, and its narrow screen is now in curved shape.

Some of the features of the Band 2 include a curved display, more touch sensitivity, additional sensors, built-in GPS, sleep and calorie tracking, UV monitoring, as well as notifications for texts, calls, and email updates. It also comes with a barometer and appears to be worn easily than its predecessor.

Furthermore, its barometer is used for stair climbing and elevation readings. And its new curved Gorilla Glass 3-covered display is scratch-resistant and works better with sweaty fingers. The battery of the Microsoft Band 2 has also been moved underneath alongside the clip-on clasp, making the rubbery strap feel more flexible, less cuff-like, and smoother.

The new band will also support all three major platforms - Android, Windows Phone, and iOS. It is one of the few fitness devices that work on these platforms. Additionally, it will sync with Microsoft Health application to view detailed information on workouts, sleep, and, activity data. Third-party applications are also compatible with the Microsoft Band 2, such as LoseIt! and MyFitnessPal.

Overall, this next-generation fitness wearable will also bring success to Microsoft like its predecessor. With its upgraded features and decent price tag, all wearable spectators will absolutely have a great deal.
