Following Sony Mobile's release of a list of its smartphones and tablets to receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow, the absence of Xperia Z1 device has prompted news that it will not be getting the latest software upgrade. However, tech analysts and Sony fans said that it is safe to assume the unveiled list is only initial.
Sony Mobile has not included the Z1 smartphone in its list of devices ready for the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. This caused reports that the device will not be receiving the update. Tech analysts and Sony fans however have agreed that the list might only be initial and subject to additions in the future.
In Sony Mobile's post on its official blog site, the Japanese tech giant emphasized that company is working hard to take along the major Android software update to as many of its devices as possible and as quickly as it can. For the analysts and fans, this connotes that the firm is looking forward to include more devices like Xperia Z1.
Other devices excluded from the list are Xperia Z1 Compact and Xperia Z Ultra. These devices were launched in 2013 and are currently running on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop software.
Meanwhile, 14 luvky devices are surely getting the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update including Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Compact, Xperia Z5 Premium, Xperia Z4 Tablet, Xperia Z3+, Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact, Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z2 Tablet, Xperia M5, Xperia C5 Ultra, Xperia M4 Aqua, and Xperia C4.
Other smartphone manufacturers like Samsung, HTC, Google, LG, and Motorola have also released to the public their upgrade plans for their devices. T-Mobile on the other end is the first mobile carrier in the US to announce a list of devices ready for Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow will offer key features and enhancements, allowing users to exercise greater control over app permissions; purchase easily and securely with fingerprint support and Android Pay; experience enhanced battery-life through Doze; and redesigned App Drawer.
