During a recent political event, President Barack Obama decided to give presidential hopeful Kanye West some political advice. After recently announcing he's considering to run for President during the 2020 elections, Kanye has received mixed responses from various celebrities and politicians, both positive and negative. This being said, President Obama felt it was his turn to give his opinion and advice.
According to a report from People, it was during a Democratic National Committee event in San Francisco last Saturday, October 10 when President Barack Obama decided to give some advice to to Kanye West, who recently announced his intention to run for president in the 2020 elections. Kanye was actually present during the president's speech, as he took to the stage doing what he does best, rapping.
In a report from Independent UK, Obama started off his speech by offering the 38-year-old rapper some friendly, but political advice. The President first stated, "You've got to deal with strange characters who behave as if they are on a reality TV show," the President of the United States of America stated, in which most believe he was referring to West's in-laws, the Kardashian family and their famous reality TV show.
He then added, "Saying that you have a 'beautiful dark twisted fantasy'? That's what's known as off-message in politics," the 54-year-old president explained before advising, "You can't say something like that. A lot of people have lost their congressional seats saying things like that."
The father of two then jokingly asked whether the US would vote for a 'black guy from the South Side of Chicago with a funny name' as president. As reported by Entertainment Tonight, the President was jokingly pointing fun at himself who previously lived from the South Side of Chicago before he was elected for president.
Though it's not sure whether Kanye West is serious with his presidential intention, the famous rapper still received support from friends and family, who believe the celebrity could stand a chance at winning. Prior to the event, wife Kim Kardashian posted a picture on Instagram of 'Yeezy' trainers with Post-it notes saying "Obama" on them. Apparently, the trainers were to be given to the president as a gift.
With the advice President Obama gave during his speech, one may say that the 'advice' was more a diss than political help. Though Barack Obama is known for his humor, it's not yet known what Kanye West though of the 'advice' he was given by the president. Fans of the 'Yeezy' star will have to wait and see whether their favorite rapper decides to take his sudden decision to run seriously, or whether he decides to leave the pros to handle the country.
