Samsung Galaxy Core Prime Android 6.0 Marshmallow Release Update

By

Samsung Galaxy Core Prime is among a ton of smartphones remaining unverified for the Android 6.0 Marshmallow but sources say that the handset device is bound for the upgrade. Amid the frenzy brought by Marshmallow, Galaxy Core Prime now rang a bell being eligible for upgrade as soon as early next year.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow has been confirmed rolling out soon to a number of devices from Samsung, Motorola, LG, Google and HTC. Among Samsung's Galaxy lineup, Core Prime has failed to make the official cut.

However, a custom ROM based on Marshmallow has been released for the device which many fans believed that Galaxy Core Prime smartphones across the board would still qualify for the official upgrade. In terms of specs, this device sports 1 GB of RAM and 1.2 GHz processor which is enough to meet the requirements for the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update.

This justification has also been fought for Sony's Xperia Z1 Compact, Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z Ultra who were excluded from the Japanese brand's road for Marshmallow. According to Android experts, the list posted on Sony Mobile's official blog post is only initial and subject to additions since the device manufacturer has been looking forward for more smartphones and tablets to experience the update.

The same might also be true to Galaxy Core Prime, according to analysts, since Samsung is known to be fond of throwing out surprises to consumers through Android updates. In the previous months, the South Korean had been releasing miraculous Lollipop update to some smartphones and tablets running with the old-bat Android KitKat.

In September, Galaxy Core Prime experienced a series of updates for Android Lollipop's final software version across the board. Verizon Wireless was the last to release the update.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow will bring in new key features like the battery-saving Doze and improvements like a smarter Google Now, simpler volume controls, among many others.

  • Doze Mode. This new feature monitors phone and puts into a deep sleep when idle to extend battery life.
  • Google Now. Google Now gets better function through Now on Tap. Press holding the home button will pop up Google Now and show information based on recent and present status or activity.
  • Android Pay. By just a simple tap, bring up Android Pay and make purchases without the need to launch another app.
  • Direct share. Share photos, links, news, files, etc. with selected contacts with ease and quickness.
  • Simpler volume controls. Control ringtone and media volume spontaneously.

Marshmallow is also bound for other devices.
