Viscount Rothermere Jonathan Harmsworth has made the bid to buy out the remaining voting shares for Daily Mail, a British Mid-Market Tabloid Newspaper. Rothermere who owns the controlling stake for the said tabloid newspaper runs the trust that runs the British based newspaper company.
The Viscount has also made the offer to buy out the voting shares which are owned by his family and as an exchange offer them nonvoting shares. He is also keen on acquiring the voting shares of his uncle which will raise his claim to 89.2% from the previous 59.9%. The said shares are not affected by the deal that is laid out by Rothermere as per listed in the London Stock exchange.
The Daily Mail and General Trust was set up by the viscount's ancestors in the late 1800's forms part of the consumer business which handles the Mail on Sunday and the Metro which is the free daily newspaper. DMGT also handles Euromoney which is comprises of a business to business media entity.
