Flavored medications developer UrgentRx said on Monday that it welcomed Michael Valentino to its board of directors. UrgentRx is an over the counter medicine developer based in Denver, Colorado.

The new member of the board was the former president and chief executive officer of Xanodyne Pharmaceuticals. The company has various investors including Boulevard Capital Partners, JUMP Investors, Texas Pacific Group, and angels Sam Zell, Herb Simon, and Hollywood actress and Oscar award winner Hilary Swank.

Valentino has been in the business for over 30 years. His past responsibilities include Adams Respirator Therapeutics, a start-up firm which posted a surprising US$500 million in its yearly report. He also worked in Alpharma, a generic medicine company, Novartis AG, Novartis Consumer Healthcare, and Novartis Nutrition Corp.

"I'm impressed by the way UrgentRx is looking to disrupt the OTC category and thrilled to be a part of a company that sees beyond the status quo of the OTC aisle," said the new board member.

"The company is looking at innovative ways to reach the consumer both in and outside the traditional retail space which is very exciting," he finished.
