'Captain Marvel' is an upcoming superhero film adapted from Marvel's popular comic book series of the same name. UFC fighter-turned-actress Ronda Rousey continues her campaign to land the lead role in the film. Meanwhile, fans took to Twitter to voice out their frustration over the film's delay.
Ever since she came up as one of the leading fan favorites to play the titular female superhero, Rousey has been actively seeking out the role of Carol Danvers a.k.a. Captain Marvel. According to Tech Times, several photo shopped images of Rousey as Captain Marvel have been making rounds on the internet. The 28-year old mixed martial arts champion has also continued her campaign to become the next big addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
According to Cinema Blend, Rousey is no stranger to acting projects. She made her big-screen debut in 2014's 'Expendables 3' and made appearances on 'Furious 7' as well as on television's 'Entourage'. In an interview with ET Online, she admitted said, "I'm really looking forward to doing my first starring role opposite Mark Wahlberg [in Mile 22]. Hopefully by the time Captain Marvel comes around, I will have enough experience and skills in the field for them to really seriously consider me."
Rousey has been quite vocal over the opportunity to play Marvel's first standalone film based on a female superhero. She first expressed her interest in the part during an AMA Reddit session. Even Marvel's very own Kevin Feige acknowledged her enthusiasm saying that he and his team were very much aware of fan casting choices.
Meanwhile, the release date for 'Captain Marvel' was bumped from its original November 2018 slot and had to be rescheduled to make way for 'Ant-Man and the Wasp', a sequel to 2015's successful film 'Ant-Man'. Dismayed fans took to Twitter to voice out their frustration, according to Metro. Many users commented that as much as they liked the first 'Ant-Man', they would much rather want to see 'Captain Marvel' first instead of a sequel.
'Captain Marvel' is an upcoming action-adventure fantasy film based on the Marvel comic book series of the same name. It is adapted for the big-screen by writers Meg LeFauve and Nicole Perlman. It is the ninth film in line for the MCU's Phase Three.
