Naughty Dog is officially wrapping up Nathan Drake's story in Uncharted 4: A Thief's End following an eight-year run of Uncharted territories. The PS4 exclusive game will finally be released on March 18, 2016.
The Uncharted series developed by Naughty Dog chronicles the adventures of treasure hunter Nathan "Nate" Drake, believed to be a descendant of the legendary English sea captain Sir Francis Drake. Uncharted 4: A Thief's End is set three years after Uncharted 3, and sees Nate Drake as a retired treasure hunter living a normal life with his wife. A series of events, including the resurfacing of his believed-to-be-dead brother, brings Drake out of retirement to see one last adventure. The extended trailer for the game featured at this year's E3 also revealed the return of Nate's wife, Elena Fisher.
Amidst a sea of controversial internal issues, the high profile game Uncharted 4: A Thief's End has been deemed to be "the end of an era" for Naughty Dog. Earlier this year, fans of the game were indeed disappointed to find that the game's original 2015 release date was pushed back to March of next year. But it wasn't until last month's issue of the Official Playstation Magazine via GameRant that co-director Neil Druckmann shared the reason for the delay. According to Druckmann, the delay was completely for the sake of giving Nate Drake the best farewell chapter that the studio can offer, both for the character and the fans of the series.
In the latest issue of the Official Playstation Magazine via GamesRadar, Druckmann shares the bittersweet ending of a decade-long series well received by the public. Exciting as it may sound to complete the final chapter in Nate Drake's story, the dedicated studio team will also be wrapping up a project that has been a part of them for many years.
Uncharted 4: A Thief's End is scheduled to be released on March 18, 2016 exclusively for PS4 systems.
