Moto G 2014 LTE, Moto E 2015 3G Receives Unofficial Android 6.0 Marshmallow Update

By

Good news for Moto G 2014 LTE and Moto E 2015 3G users as there is an unofficial Android 6.0 Marshmallow update available for download.

The ROM is the AOSP-based CyanogenMod 13 ROM (CM13) for the Moto G 2014 LTE and the Moto E 2015 3G version. It is still in the alpha stage so bugs and glitches can still be expected.

Some of the broken features for the Moto E 2015 3G version include video playback and the FM radio, according to the International Business Times. The working features are quite few: partial audio, GPS, SD Card mounting, Wi-Fi and of course the display itself.

Meanwhile, the Moto G 2014 LTE version of the ROM can still boot, play videos, use Bluetooth and GPS. However, the camera and flashlight does not work. In addition, the stock file manager can't even function so transferring or opening files will be impossible at the moment.

Interested users can still try to download the file and flash it through their preferred recovery loader such as TWRP or CWM. It is not recommended that the file be flashed on other models at it could permanently brick the device.

The Marshmallow Google apps for the Android 6.0 Marshmallow version should also be downloaded. It should be flashed after the ROM is installed, according to Neurogadget.

As always, the Moto G 2014 LTE or Moto E 2015 3G phone should have at least 80 percent battery life. If it shuts down while installing, it could destroy the device's software.

There is also another CyanogenMod 12.1 update for the Moto E 2015 4G LTE version (Surnia). It only provides the Lollipop version and not the Marshmallow, according to Android Police.

Flashing a ROM is very risky and should be done by an experienced user. The updates are unofficial ones for the Moto G 2014 LTE and the Moto E 2015 3G,4G LTE versions.
