Darksiders II: Deathinitiative Edition Set for Release Tomorrow

By

Darksiders II was released August 2012 by Vigil Games and Published by THQ. Three years later, Darksiders II: Deathinitiative Edition is set to be released on October 27, 2015. This new enhanced edition is developed by Nordic Games who previously bought the intellectual property from the now defunct THQ.

The new edition is said to have enhanced graphics. According to Gamespot, "Deathinitiative Edition boasts 1080p graphics and includes all DLC released for the game during its initial run. In addition, the game uses a new rendering engine to improve how the lighting and shadows look. Players can also expect better graphics overall for characters and environments."

Looking at the previously released teaser video, Deathinitiative character design and background looks more detailed without sacrificing the style and feel of the original. Details were eye-popping due to the enhanced lighting effects.

Deathinitiative also tweaked the game systems to have better distributed drops. This is a huge improvement for a hack-and-slash, action-RPG, as progression and loot are like carrot on a stick for hardcore players.

As mentioned, the enhanced edition will also include all previous DLCs for the game. However, Chris Carter of Destructoid is not endorsing Deathinitiative as a must-buy. "You'll also net all the DLC included so far, which basically includes a lot of useless items, and three missions that are roughly under an hour each," he said.

That said, Carter was quick to point out that Deathinitiative is a great jumping on point if you are new to the Darksiders franchise.

Game Informer's Marcus Stewart revealed that Deathinitiative follows the story of the original Darksiders II. You will play Death, one of the four horsemen of the Apocalypse. His mission is to uncover the truth about what happened to his brother, War (the protagonist of the first Darksiders).

According to Stewart, Darksiders was inspired by games like Diablo, Legend of Zelda, and God of War. He added that the Game Informer team enjoyed the previous Darksiders and gave it a positive review.

Deathinitiative the definitive edition will be released for Playstation 4 and Xbox One and will cost $30.
