Google And Asus Team Up to Build OnHub

Google is making a second revision to the boosted WiFi router, OnHub, and they're building it with someone else.

As reported on The Verge, Google has introduced it's second OnHub variation that they are doing in partnership with Asus. It is now available today for pre-order and will roll out anytime this week.

The OnHub router is unlike any other, it provides better WiFi signal than what most people are used to, and is much easier to use. The second generation will sport a few new features including the ability called Wave Control - where users hover their hands on top of the device to prioritize WiFi signal to a specific device.

Another key feature, says EnGadget, will be to select favored antennas to send WiFi signal through based on the location of the devices it's connected to. This feature will also be rolled out to the first version of the router, which was made by TP-Link. So if a phone is on one side and a laptop on another side, and both are connected to the router, each device will receive WiFi signal from different antennas based on what combination will be strongest.

The Google/Asus routers are meant to be 'displayed proudly' as opposed to the usual practice of tucking your routers under a table or in a cabinet, says Google's official blog. The second model is expected to be a tad bit bigger, but just as easy to use, simple and sleek in design.

Google's vision is to remove the headaches most home WiFi's bring with unreliable signals, slow internet and complicated set-up designs. The new Google router built by Asus is priced at $219.99 and though it's not cheap many reviews are saying that it's worth the dollars put out.

Asus has been known for reliably building some great routers and Google users hope that with the second generation of OnHub done by them, they will continue that tradition with their partnership with Google.
