When Square Enix announced that they're working on a "Final Fantasy 7" remake, fans just can't help but get excited. Now, director Tetsuya Nomura says that the forthcoming game will undergo dramatic changes. Also, the said remake is believed to include a multiplayer gameplay, DLC updates, and a lot more.
It is worth noting that amongst the plans stated in Square Enix's 2015 annual report is the remake for "Final Fantasy 7." According to Crossmap, director Tetsuya Nomura revealed that the upcoming game is expected to go through dramatic changes in terms of graphics and battle system. However, its core identity should remain as it is. And since the Japanese video game developer company's older IPs were intended to work with older hardware, they will not update them to become compatible with new gaming consoles. Instead, their aim is to develop remakes that are playable using smart devices as well as other gaming platforms.
According to Christian Post, Square Enix wants to pay tribute to its loyal fans by allowing them to relive their experience with old games, only with the use of new technology available. In addition, the company wants gamers to enjoy their older IPs in a new context. And although they have not provided details of the changes, director Tetsuya Nomura said that they're "bringing dramatic change to the Final Fantasy 7 remake." Furthermore, Nomura reportedly explained that turning the game into a shooter type is not part of their plans.
Meanwhile, Yibada reported that one of the features included in "Final Fantasy 7" is a multiplayer gameplay in mini-games and DLC updates, all of these to make the game a lot more interesting to both old and new generation of gamers. There is also a remix album of the OST songs called "MATERIA: Final Fantasy 7 Remixed," which is a five-disc album featuring 200 artists.
If speculations are true, gamers will experience the dramatic changes of "Final Fantasy 7" come 2017. The said date is believed to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the beloved title.
