Carla Delevingne and Rihanna to star in Luc Besson’s ‘Valerian’

Another Sci-Fi Film from Luc Besson is coming. The filmmaker is going with the film, 'Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets' and is set to star iconic singer and model, Rihanna and Carla Delevingne respectively. Luc Besson confirmed the casting of the pop singer through his Instagram post.

Rihanna and Carla Delevingne have been long-time friends and now they will be starring in another Sci-Fi film, 'Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets' by Luc Besson. This will be third for Rihanna who starred in 'Battleship,' 'Annie,' and a voice character in the animated movie, 'Home.' On the other hand, this said film will be Carla Delevingne's 3rd - she stars in this year's film 'Pan' and 'Paper Towns,' Vogue UK cited.

Roles are not final yet but everything seems to be in the pipeline for Rihanna and Carla Delevingne. 'Valerian' adapts Pierre Christin and Jean-Claude Mezieres' graphic novel that was in the 28th century setup - the era where humanity has discovered time travel, Variety said in a feature. In lieu with the progressing movie, the filming is set to takes place in France, specifically at Luc Besson's mega-studio house located at the Cite du Cinema in Saint Denis on the outskirts side of Paris.

According to Hollywood Reporter, the production will start by end of 2015. Luc Besson is set to write and direct the 'Valerian' film that will be released on July 21, 2017. Moreover, Virginie Besson-Silla will produce the film taking account on behalf of Europa Corp - the one that will finance, produce and distribute the said film.

Rihanna and Carla Delevingne are now looking forward to this another genius creation of Luc Besson. The said sci-fi film could be something new for both stars - away from music, previous genre films played and modelling. Luc Besson is looking at 'Valerian' release two years from now.
