Samsung Galaxies and S series to receive Android 6.0 Marshmallow soon

The list of Samsung devices that will receive the new Android 6.0 Marshmallow has been released. Along with the update to the new Android software, the smartphone company is also planning to include its personal software in it. In this regard, the firm is now on the process of working out an OTA update for its devices in preparation for the new software version.

NeuroGadget noted the variants of Galaxy Note 4 that will receive the new OS update which include SM-N910C, SM-N910F, SM-N9100 Duos, SM-N910H, SM-N910L, SM-N910V, SM-N916S, SM-N910T, SM-N910G, SM-N910U, SM-N910W8, SM-N9109W, SM-N916W SM-N910K, SM-N916L, SM-N916K, SM-N9108V, SM-N910S, SM-N910P and SM-N910R4. In addition to the Note 4, Pocket Lint also specified other Samsung devices that will receive the new update. Specifically, these are Samsung Galaxy Note 5, S6 Edge+, S6, S6 Duos, S6 Edge, Note Edge, Galaxy ALPHA, and Galaxy Tab A. If users would like to check for Samsung devices other than the aforementioned models for the update, the Samsung page has the list of phones that are available or in development for Android 6.0.

The new features of Android 6.0 Marshmallow includes a app permissions system, a Doze application that can improve the battery life of the device, and Google Now On Tap which can provide relevant information on the screen without leaving the application, Android Geeks reported. More so, the update can support a fingerprint scanner which will enable the use of Android Pay or Google Play Store payments. The report added that the new Android OS can support automatic app data backup every 24 hours.

As usual for new software versions, users can wait for OTA messages as a notification or can manually check their phone for an available update. Nonetheless, aside from all the various announcements from the smartphone firm, none have confirmed the exact date of the release of Android 6.0.
