Nintendo has just recently announced its first smartphone game dubbed as Miitomo which will be a free-to-play title. The company has stated that this smartphone game will be launched in March 2016.
According to Tech Times, the Japanese mobile games maker DeNa was the one who developed Miitomo and this will be a free-to-play title that will arrive with in-app purchases. This partnership between the two Japanese companies was from the deal made by Nintendo's former President Satoru Iwata and DeNa.
The new president of Nintendo, Tatsumi Kimishima has elaborated that Miitomo will feature Mii interactions where avatars will be allowed to have an interaction with others on their own free will.
Nintendo has also emphasized that the Miitomo app is perfect for players who are reluctant to talk to others or expose things about themselves. In Miitomo, each player will create first their own Mi, after that, players will be asked a series of questions and based on those answers, they are already establishing a communication with other Miis, Kotaku wrote.
A report from Wired.Co UK. also stated that players will make and have conversation with their Miis and with responses to their questions shared between friends. Unlike, for example, the Miis a player encounter utilizing the 3DS' StreetPass function, this data will only be shared between people that have really registered as friends. So far, it is not clear what platforms the game will launch on.
Mitomo's another unique characteristic is would be the user's ability to find out unfamiliar aspects about its friends or unexpected commonalities a user share in its friend since Miitomo could pick up the topics that a user typically doesn't converse, however the user would be willing to answer if asked.
Moreover, Tatsumi Kimishima has also stated that they would like to make players realize that through such communication, they will be able to deepen friendly relationships and have extra people they can play the game with.
Miitomo will be released by March 2016. As Nintendo plans to launch four more apps by March 2017, more Nintendo-DeNa titles that utilize the Nintendo Account system will arrive soon. Nonetheless, games next to Miitomo will be pay-to-download apps.
