Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge units under AT&T are bound for the Android 6.0 Marshmallow software's testing stage, one more notch away from the official rollout. An official list of Samsung for its Marshmallow upgrade plans revealed one of US's biggest mobile network is proceeding to the testing to evaluate Marshmallow's performance.
AT&T's Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge smartphones are almost done with the development stage and is slated to go through the testing stage in November. In development, the carrier and the original equipment manufacturer have to agreements to back the hugest Android upgrade is history.
Testing shall follow wherein the telecom company will undergo the device to a certification process. Here also is where evaluation of Marshmallow happens. Accordingly, this will begin in November since the official rollout is expected in the first quarter of 2016.
If testing is successful, Marshmallow release will kick off. However, dates will depend on the carrier and/or location.
Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge units on AT&T have build number SM-G925A. In September, the carrier already release the official Android 5.1.1 Lollipop software version via an over-the-air update.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow brings not only improvements in features but smoother processes and device management solutions as well. Meanwhile, Google Now is the most popular and most improved apps of Android perhaps as it now becomes more intuitive.
Originally, Google Now only works as a predictive assistant on the device's home screen and scuttle through apps to gather more information with immediacy about anything under the sun. This works by press holding the home button even while an app is open. Google will read the screen and process its content and will begin suggesting according to user's possible sphere of interests.
AT&T offers a two-year contract for 32-GB Samsung Galaxy S6 edge at US $229. The carrier is also confirmed testing Marshmallow on Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Galaxy S6 devices.
