Before Android 6.0 Marshmallow software releases, US Cellular is reported preparing to roll out the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop to its units of Samsung Galaxy Note 4 in November. The final Lollipop update will bring in a plethora of key improvements in device management, user interface and security.
Samsung Galaxy Note 4 smartphones under US Cellular are currently running on Android 5.0.1 Lollipop and will still see a glimpse of the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop version beginning this month. According to Samsung's official list of software upgrades posted by You Mobile, Galaxy Note 4 units of US Cellular will heading to the final rollout of Lollipop before the Marshmallow officially releases in the first quarter of 2016.
US Cellular now puts its Galaxy Note 4 devices under development stage for Marshmallow wherein the device manufacturer has agreed to support the new build. Previous reports underscored that January might be the date.
Samsung Galaxy Note 4 units on US Cellular have build number SM-N910R4. Sprint remains to be the sole mobile network in the US to release the Android 5.1.1 to Galaxy Note 4 while Verizon, T-Mobile and AT&T have yet to release the same update.
Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update brings a host of improvements for a more enjoyable web experience and device management. Meanwhile, new notification system is one of the most exciting features the new Lollipop build brings which is way more organized and clean than the previous software updates.
With Priority Mode, users can set priority wit device's volume control button to control which messages, notifications and calls are flagged important to go through and which ones will wait in queue.
For lock screen notifications, it can now be personalized like which texts and alerts will go through. Lollipop also allows users to respond to these right on the lock screen.
Interruptions diminish with prioritized notifications for apps and a time-sensitive notification system. If an app is currently open, phone calls will not stop its operation for the time being.
