‘Need for Speed’ Reboot: Night time Challenges, Full Motion Video Cut Scenes, and Car Customization Featured

The longest running game franchise of the generation is now getting a reboot from Ghost Games. Existing for more than two decades, Electronic Arts' Need for Speed has been talking up the game's return to its roots. The reboot featured much of having the whole game taking place at nighttime, full motion video cut scenes, and fully customizable cars, despite the low quantity of the game's vehicle selection.

Developer Ghost Games has put an immense amount of work on building a believable world. The game is set in the fictional city of Ventura Bay, Los Angeles and the story revolves around a silent and unnamed protagonist. The player progresses in the game through reputation points or Reps. While reviewed by Gadgets 360 to have a poor car handling and a poor AI in the gameplay, the game pretty compensated gamers for interesting police encounters, amusing dialogue, and an entertaining story in general.

The player gets to meet with a character named Spike who introduces the former to the underground crew of racers, drifters, and tuners. One, as usual, starts with a cheap and underpowered car which he can upgrade through price money won in competitions. One might also consider buying a new car from such cash. Arts Technica commented that the game is intended not just to appear as a race, but for car lovers as well as car customizing is a major feature of the game. The challenges include races and drift competitions, which could come as missions, or could just be a spontaneous event in the game. One would also experience being chased by police cars at 100 mph and get fined if caught. Cut scenes are also impressive as live action videos are being portrayed instead of another CGI.

While the game features not too many cars, the game made great emphasis on car customization. According to Techno Buffalo, the game features 40 cars that are fully customizable. The developers intended to feature a few, but customizable cars as players intend to get attached to few but beautiful cars rather than the many plain ones. Since the cut scenes are done in full motion, one is to expect realistic car details and impressive environment to blend in with the video.

Fans of the one of the longest running game franchises can experience the game starting from its release on November 3 for Xbox One and PS4. A PC release comes out by Spring of 2016.
