‘Street Fighter 5’ Updates: DLC New Characters Hints and the return of Dhalsim

By

During the Paris Games Week, Capcom has announced the release of Street Fighter 5, scheduled on February 16, 2016. The return is adjoined by the comeback of a character, Yoga Master Dhalsim, and it is said that a bunch of new characters shall be released with the game's DLC.

Fans have been rejoicing for the return of Dhalsim, the Yoga Master, who is now geared with new super tricks and whose V-skill and V-trigger are both upgraded. Christian Post reports that never-before-seen moves can be expected from Dhalsim including lingering projectiles, leg-twists, long range thrusts, and jabs with teleportation, aside from the usual muscle-stretching abilities. Another thing which excites fans is the coming of additional new characters in the game. Street Fighter V Producer Yoshinori Ono said that beginning 2016, at least 6 new DLC characters shall be added to the fighting game's lineup. According to Capcom, they wanted to add a new challenger which will engage players for a long time.

According to Realty Today, Capcom has already revealed 14 of the game's characters. Aside from Dhalsim whose return was revealed in the Beta Testing and was later confirmed, new mystic characters shall also be added to the game's usual roster. During the Paris Games Week, Ono did announce that there will be additional characters; however, their names and persona remained unknown. The only thing that would be hinted from the new characters are the intriguing character silhouettes shown in a teaser.

Meanwhile, Capcom clarified that it is the "gameplay" content which can be earned for free by playing the game further, Gamespot reported. It means that the game's DLC can be availed in two ways; either by playing or by paying, as it intend to offer only a single disc. The new characters it has hinted shall be revealed individually throughout game progress as to encourage actually playing the game rather than doing purchases. According to Capcom, they wanted to ensure that there is always something to look forward to. With this, they can encourage a long-time engagement; the more you play, the more you are rewarded.

With Dhalsim returning and with the six new characters covered in mystery, Capcom is positive that it would keep the players to be more engaged in the game as they are progressively rewarded. Street Fighter 5 is going to hit the consoles on February 16, 2016.
