Microsoft is yet to close out the year with more releases and updates, but the tech giant is already starting to line up some new exciting events for next year - the release of the newest Microsoft Surface Phone included.
Further, reports by Techno Buffalo have indicated that the upcoming Surface Phone, which is viewed to come out by the first half of next year, will be sporting a Snapdragon 820 chipset. What makes this chip so special is that Qualcomm has packed it with 64-bit CPU core dubbed Kyro and built on 14nm technology. The GPU Adreno 530 is said to be 40 percent faster than the Snapdragon 810's Adreno 430 GPU.
The biggest bottleneck in the advancement of the chipset will be whether they overheat or not, where reports have said that they do. Qualcomm however has shot down those speculations by releasing an official statement stating that such claims are 'false'. The chip-builder further adds that the Snapdragon 820 is satisfying the thermal and performance specifications from OEMs, says Latin Post.
Nokia Power User adds that the Surface Phone will not be the only handset released with the power of the Snapdragon 820. Sources state that the chip is also being tested on Lumia phones, as Microsoft is also testing out new ideas for their flagship products.
At least two Lumia prototypes are in the works, but the final products will not be seeing the light of day until about third quarter of next year.
Microsoft is pretty new to the smartphone scene. After acquiring Nokia and releasing Lumia, the Surface Phone will be the first in-house created handset by the company.
The tech company is yet to release details on specs that the phone will sport, but rumours are going around that it will have a 5.5-inch display with QHD screen resolution, the Intel Atom x3 (SoFIA) 64-bit chipset, a 21-megapixel PureView Zeiss six-lens rear camera, an eight-megapixel Zeiss wide-angle front camera, 4GB of RAM and USB-Type C port.
