Thursday’s episode of "Grey’s Anatomy" will explore on Penny’s first day at Grey Sloan Memorial. Samantha Sloyan, the actress who portrays the character partially responsible for Derek’s death, offered what to expect in the awaited episode while also sharing her experience while shooting last week’s tense dinner party hosted by Meredith (Ellen Pompeo). The Nov. 5th installment is titled “The Me Nobody Knows”.
In a recent interview with TV Line, Sloyan offered what went behind the scenes of Grey’s Anatomy as they were filming last Thursday’s episode. The hour’s storyline allowed for viewers to witness an incredibly difficult scene among Mer, Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) and the rest of the invited guests.
According to Sloyan, shooting felt “tense”, comparing it to a play as they had to do really long takes to perfect the dinner party scene. “Every time I looked up I had the whole cast — all wonderful actors — looking at me and feeling all of their individual characters’ feelings,” she shared. She also expressed how wonderful the experience was for her as the cast of the medical drama helped her empathize with Penny’s feelings.
Moving forward, Penny will be joining the team of Grey Sloan on this week’s episode. Expectedly, things will not go easy as pie. “She is in the same hospital as Dr. Meredith Grey. Penny better be at the top of her game,” Sloyan teased when asked about Penny’s first day in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
She also hinted the fans to look forward to an “intense” dynamic between Penny and Mer now that they will be working in the same building.
As to whether Penny will find allies at the hospital, it looks like she will find some comforting shoulders from April (Sarah Drew). “After the dinner party, we heard April talk about how a mistake for a doctor can mean someone’s life. All the doctors live with that fact,” she explained.
The upcoming episode, according to The Futon Critic, will also focus on April, who reunites with an old friend from the Middle-East.
"Grey’s Anatomy" will uncork another interesting episode this week, as the storyline will follow Penny’s first day in Grey Sloan Memorial. To this end, longtime fans can hope for some intense dynamic between the new doctor and Meredith Grey.
