Microsoft is positioning the Surface Phone to be the handset that businesses will want to get and its specs meet those standards.
The upcoming smartphone by the pioneer tech company will be the first under the 'Surface' brand and actually the first to be made in-house after Microsoft purchased Nokia years back, says Tech Times.
Lumias are out in the market and may have something to offer to the general public, but Microsoft's Surface Phone will be offering optimal productivity to businesses. The device was first announced last August and reporters are expecting Microsoft to make it available to Insiders by May or June 2016.
The Windows-powered phone is expected to sport the same slim and metallic look of the Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book. Specs, however, will not be too premium and the emphasis will be on creating productivity and security. Integrations with Outlook, Office and Lynk is also a major feature that Windows fans are looking forward to, seeing that the other Surface products are doing well in those aspects.
Christian Post shares that the phone will most likely have support for an iris scanner, USB Type-C and Win32 apps, which are features targeted for business users. 'Enhanced Continuum' is also expected to be included on the phone. Also, landscape mode is included to give it the ability to be transformed into a 'mini PC'. It has been reported by IT Pro Portal that the phone will also have a Snapdragon 820 chipset to power the phone, even though the focus won't be much on power but on the productivity.
Businesses are known to purchase thousands of phones for their employees and then another thousands more the next year. It's likely that Microsoft is planning to get into this strategy for the upcoming phone launch.
Rumors suggest a special event in 2016 that will introduce the new Surface Phone to the world, but Microsoft has yet to give an official statement on that regard.
