Google Search on Tablets gets a Face Lift

By

Google has launched a pure tablet-only interface for Google search results that will give tablet owners an experience different from the ones done on mobile phones and on desktops.

The new tablet user interface uses a form of card-like results, with a skinnier top bar navigation and bigger white spaces on the left and right of the search results, says Search Engine Land. The restructuring of the tablet's UI maximizes the available space on a tablet screen, now showing more search results than it used to without scrolling.

According to Search Marketing Shop, the last Google Search redesign for the tablet was introduced almost four years ago, which favoured the horizontal orientation of the device. The design took out the left side navigation of the desktop, added dropdown menus and removed the Gooooooooogle footer mark.

The "mobile-friendly" markers have remained in the display of the tablet version, and long URLS are now abbreviated even though there's enough space in tablets, which gives a much cleaner and organized look.

Seround Table reported that a Google spokesperson said that the new UI will be constantly rolled out this week, bringing the best of Google Search to tablets.

With the restructuring of the search-engine giant, making Google a daughter-company to overall entity, Alphabet, the California-based company is releasing tons of major changes to its products and rolling out new products as well.

Alphabet is now a conglomerate that contains Google, which still oversees many of the company's operations such as the search engine, Android development and Nexus construction. Other branches of Alphabet include Google X, Calico, Nest Labs, Google Ventures, Google Capital and Google Life Sciences.

The change of the tablet user experience is one of the many changes that the company has done to it's massive search engine since the restructuring was implemented just last month. Another major release of the company includes the pursuit of artificial intelligence in RankBrain, that makes the search experience a whole lot smarter for long tail keywords
