Lenovo has finally announced to the world on when its users will be getting their hands on the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. The company has also cleared the air as to which devices will be getting the new firmware - K3 Note, Vibe S1, Vibe P1, A7000 and A7000 Plus.
According to Gadgets 360, the Chinese tech developer announced that the Lenovo A7000 and A7000 plus will be receiving the Android OS update by September of next year, as noted in Lenovo's Android Upgrade Matrix Support page. The Lenovo K3 note will also receive the OTA update in the same month.
The company also states that the Lenovo Vibe S1 and Lenovo Vibe P1 will be receiving their updates two months earlier than A7000 and K3. Currently, all the aforementioned devices support Android 5.0 Lollipop, except the P1 which runs on a more advanced 5.1 version of Lollipop.
The update to be given via Over The Air (OTA) will bring features like Google Now on Tap, Doze, and a new version of Vibe UI to Lenovo users, says International Business times.
One month after the release of the new firmware version, only 0.3% of smartphones are running on Marshmallow, according to iDigital Times. The only non-Nexus device that is shipping out with the new mobile OS is the HTC One A9.
However, many manufacturers, including Sony, Huawei, Samsung and most recently Lenovo, are continuously giving out updates on when the OEMs will be releasing Android 6.0 to their users.
No other Lenovo devices have been announced to receive Android 6.0 Marshmallow as of the moment, but rumours imply that Lenovo may be planning to expand the list of devices in the following months.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow became available to the public back in October 5, rolling out first to Google Nexus handset owners. Many Android users continue to watch out for updates as to when or whether their devices will be receiving the new firmware.
