Apple TV Update: Sports App Store Integration; Features Bluetooth-Enabled Remote

By

Apple has just recently launched its fourth iteration of its streaming-TV box. After five years, the Apple TV has received its first-ever major update again. This model now includes Apple's App Store that allows the users to choose streaming services they want.

"The future of TV is apps," claims Tim Cook, the Chief Executive Officer of Apple. The next-generation Apple TV sports a 64-bit A8 processor to support graphic-intensive games. It comes in two variants - 32GB and 64GB. Moreover, it includes a thin Bluetooth-enabled remote control that features a capacitive touch surface for navigating menus.

According to TH Online, the new Apple TV includes an iPhone-like application store. This feature lets the users easily customize the home screen with their favorites. Also, it has full high definition video quality, which people would absolutely love. However, it does not support higher-quality video standard, called 4K or ultra-high definition, unlike other streaming boxes. In terms of retail pricing, it costs $149 for the 32GB version and $199 for the 64GB variant.

When it comes to the Apple TV's remote control, it does not have a headphone jack. But, it supports Bluetooth wireless headphones that are purchased separately, of course. Apparently, the remote has a laptop-style trackpad function, which users can control playback, TV power, and volume, as well as navigate on-screen keyboard faster.

Furthermore, the latest Apple TV allows voice searches and playback using Siri. This fully works with iTunes now. Aside from that, Siri also provides sports, weather, and stocks information.

Nevertheless, this streaming-TV box is definitely promising and innovative. Though there are limited and unconfirmed applications that the Apple TV is expected to include, still it is an ideal way to stream online. With the inclusion of the App Store, users can now conveniently search for some new channels of entertainment.
