One of America's longest running science fiction horror drama television series The X-Files ,will be resurrected after after almost 14 years since their last episode in 2002. The revival of X-Files include alumni Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) with only six episode story arc. The return of the series will kick-off with a case of a potential alien abductee. Plus, no romantic link between Mulder and Scully in the reboot.
For the follow up series of The X-Files, main characters Fox Mulder and Dana Scully will return to solve supernatural and alien cases, or so they thought. In a teaser which can be watched here, the two questions the truthfulness of their previous cases and thinks they might just be a part of a conspiracy. For then opening episode, the Mulder calls on Scully to take on a case of a potential aliean abductee.
The revival of The X-Files will see features episodes written and directed by series' veterans Darin Morgan, Glen Morgan, James Wong and series creator Chris Carter, Design & Trend noted. Robbie Amell, known from The Flash, will play the role of Agent Miller. DIG actress Lauren Ambrose will also join the cast and will portray the sharp and confident Agent Einstein. There is no confirmation yet on which episodes they will appear.
Other actors to join the fictional series are Mitch Pileggi as Walter Skinner, William B. Davis as the mysterious Smoking Man, Tom Braidwood as Melvin Frohike, and Dean Haglund as Richard 'Ringo' Langly.
For the fans of Mulder - Scully love team, the revival of The X-Files confirms that this romantic angle will not be part of the reboot. In an interview with Carter by The Hollywood Reporter, the two had a rift and they go to separate homes now.
The X-Files returns on 24 January 2016 10-11pm ET/7-8pm PT with a two-night season premiere and on Monday, 25 January 2016 at 8pm on Fox.
