Google has long been known to be the type that constantly gives away freebies to users who purchase their hardware. The latest featured deal includes three free movies from the Google Play store for those who purchased a Chromebook.
Android Police shares to Android followers the relatively short list, yet still a good free deal of movies that the new Chromebook owners can choose from:
- Mission Impossible
- Mission Impossible II
- Mission Impossible III
- Mean Girls
- Clueless
- Ferris Bueller's Day Off
- Footloose
- Flashdance
- Forrest Gump
- The Spongebob Squarepants Movie
- The Spongebob Movie: Sponge Out of Water
- The Last Airbender
- Charlotte's Web (2006)
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014)
The deal will last from November 8 to January 16 of next year. The free movies being offered are only available in Standard Definition, which isn't a complete wow factor, but considering it's free, many users are going for the freebie.
Ubergizmo goes on to add that the deal is actually made available for old Chromebook owners as well, which isn't clear to the owners of the Google created laptop if there is a loophole to the system, or if it's just Google being extra generous.
People who have been following the recent activity of Google will know that the company is planning to merge the efforts made by Google Android and Chromebooks, meaning users will no longer be seeing Chrome operating systems in the near future. Although, the giant technology conglomerate has highly emphasized that it is not a move that will result to the phasing out of the Google-manufactured initiative, but will actually propel it.
Chome OS does not a function as a full desktop operating system like Apple and Windows operating system, but it gets the basics done, reminds Information Week. The merger of Android and Chrome programs aims to increase the available functionality provided for third-party manufactured Chrome laptops.
There is not official word from Google as to how this will affect the existing hardware provided by independent OEMs, but none of the third-party builders have expressed disagreement to the move as of today.
