Apple has prepared a software update for its new TV. The new software version is referred to as tvOS 9.0.1 which is available for the fourth-generation Apple TVs. It is believed that the new software update will include performance enhancements and bug fixes to resolve issues encountered since the launch of tvOS last October 30.
As similar as updating mobile phone's software, tvOS 9.0.1 can be updated either over-the-air message or manual check of the Settings app. According to The Verge, subscribers can go to Settings, then hit System, and then Software Updates for manual update. The report added that tvOS allows the user to choose to install the update now or wait later.
In addition, Apple TV can utilize iTunes via USB-C for the restoration of software, though updating over the wire is not possible for restoration of all data, 9to5Mac said. As the report said, tvOS 9.0.1 intends to provide enhancement to TV's performances and promote fixes to previous issues. However, support for Bluetooth keyboards and Apple's Remote app are still not developed.
On the other hand, MacRumors noted that Apple has released the first tvOS beta of version 9.1 to registered developers. To recall the previous issues, tvOS Developer Library page stated that the Simulator motion control does not work if the remote sleeps. More so, any resource that's downloaded reports a progress of 0.0, even though it is available locally when Accessing Resources with Completion Handler. Another issue is the initial On Demand Resource asset packs that currently does not download during installation time.
The new TV software version will help in resolving the issues that customers are experiencing. Meanwhile, subscribers can start updating their Apple TVs.
