“With Love From Diana” Princess Diana’s Ex-Lover Caught Selling Her Love Letters

By

It's a royal business!

James Hewitt, a former British military officer and Princess Diana's ex-lover, is reportedly selling love letters he received from the royalty. While a lot of wealth is expected from this business of royal calibre, the British palace took action and seized the letters.

Reportedly, Hewitt is said to be cashing in on the letters the late princess had written for him by putting it in auction through a friend named Gary Zimet. Zimet is the owner of Moments in Time, a seller of historic memorabilia. He has confirmed the legitimacy of the letters as well as the fact he got it from Hewitt.

But it actually wasn't the first time that the former military officer planned to sell the personal letters. Back in 2003, he auctioned them for £10,000,000. Reports claim that Hewitt is more than willing to share the love of Princess Diana in exchange for money. But he allegedly cancels the auction claiming his attachment.

While it seems like it is not a big deal auctioning the princess's 8 love letters and 32 greeting cards, with a bonus letter from young Prince William, as it's technically in Hewitt's ownership, the British palace did not appreciate the business. The reason is because some of the letters could give a negative impression to the late princess, like seeing her flirtatious side for instance.

Daily Mail reports that Hewitt was planning to sell the items to the highest bidder in the U.S. And when confronted if he was behind the auction, the 57-year-old denied the allegation and opted to remain silent.

Meanwhile, the last letter of Princess Diana was in dedication to the landmine victims. It was auctioned during her 10th death anniversary.

In the letter, the British royalty wrote and promised to spread awareness of the helpless victims of the landmine disasters. It was dated August 11, 1997, written in Kensington Palace and is signed off "With love from Diana."
