Chloe Moretz is confirmed to take on the role of Ariel in the film adaptation of Disney's "The Little Mermaid." Fans are excited to see the live action movie of one of the best magical stories ever told, even the "Carrie" actress is excited to play the part.

As soon as the casting was set, Moretz wasted no time in informing the fans of her upcoming project. She tweeted: "Been waiting a long time to tell you guys! #TheLittleMermaid going to be a beautiful experience! Can't wait to show everyone my Mermaid!"

The 18-year-old rising star will play the title character of Universal's "The Little Mermaid." It is based on the fairytale story written by Danish author, Hans Christian Andersen.

The story is about a mermaid who fell in love with a prince she saved from drowning. The young mermaid wanted then to become a human and in this desire, things started to fall apart. While the original novel ended tragically, the 1989 Disney adaptation altered the story into its expected "And they lived happily ever after" theme. What's exciting is, which storyline will be followed by this modern retelling, fans have yet to know.

Reportedly, Working Title and Universal Pictures will work together in producing the movie. Executive producers Liza Chasin and Amelia Granger, including Working Title's Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner will take part on this project. Alongside them are Universal's Production EVP Erik Baiers and Creative Executive Chloe Yellin.

The writer eyed for this Disney adaptation is screenwriter Richard Curtis who wrote phenomenal love stories "About Time" and "Love Actually." Meanwhile, Director Sofia Coppola who was initially in this project has gotten in conflict with the production company due to creative differences, thus leaving her role to be filled in by another. Though Coppola left, fortunately enough, the decision to cast Moretz for the lead role was retained.
