Following the desire of Disney to make a "Genie" movie, reports emerged that the late comedian actor does not want a film not after 25 long years. However, some reports are hinting that the project could still happen.
The Sunday Times revealed that Disney discarded the original plans to produce the fourth movie of the "Aladdin" animated film. An unidentified source who was introduced as a former executive of Disney announced a statement recalling what the late Robin Williams' will.
"When he was on form, the hyperactive motormouth we love from Good Morning Vietnam, Hook,Dead Poets Society and Mrs Doubtfire, was making 30 jokes a minute," he said. "Now, because he insisted on a final say on such material, (the jokes) will remain in the vaults."
IGN insisted that William does not want his name to be overburdened as well as his taped performances and voice recordings for 25 years. Previously, Disney announced that they are planning to produce another "Aladdin" film which will involve William's unused original 1991 recordings for the film.
However, The Wrap reported that Disney is not developing any movies and clips with the involvement of his previous fresh voice recordings. According to the article, William's will have not discouraged the plans for a fourth "Aladdin" movie. In fact, the rumored project was never due to production but an individual similar movie could possibly be planned.
Although Disney acquires a lot of fresh and unheard voices, sources say the studio has no on-going plans for a new project. This might somehow a way to avoid problems for his family. Now, reports caution the studio might face potential cases once they ignored the clause statement and financial punishment will be imposed on posthumous earnings.
In August 2014, Williams reportedly committed suicide at the age of 63 due to depression and neurological illness. He and Disney have had an interesting connection when he was still alive.
