A new handset from Microsoft dubbed as the Surface Phone 2016 is being prepared by the company to launch next year.  The Surface Phone will be made to focus for increased productivity rather than entertainment.

According to Ecumenical News, the difference of the alleged Microsoft Surface Phone 2016 with the Lumia line and its other opponents would be its optimum for greater productivity. It is said that this concept seems to stem from the Surface hybrid netbooks. Therefore, Microsoft will likely design the Surface Phone as a business smartphone.

As for the Surface Phone 2016 specifications, it will come in 5.5-inch AMOLED display, 1440 x 2560 resolutions. The Intel's Atom X3 LTE chip will reportedly supply power for this handset.

The upcoming smartphone from Microsoft will be the first smartphone to be promoted under the Surface brand name. The company is expected to build the Surface Phone that will serve as an ultimate productivity smartphone for businesses. It has also been stated that an Intel Atom X3 LTE (Sofia) chip which has already a support for Windows 10 Mobile will be found inside this new phone, Tech Times wrote.

A report from Christian Post states that the alleged Microsoft Surface phone 2016 will also have the slim and metallic design that can be seen in recent Surface devices, the Surface Pro 4 and the Surface Book. Nevertheless, since it's just a smartphone, it will not be equipped having similar high-end specs.

A support for an iris scanner, USB Type-C and Win32 apps could possibly be built in the Surface phone 2016 since this is a kind of handset that will prioritize productivity and security which will be useful for business users. What's more, this handset will have the ability to be transformed into a "mini PC" for it will have a landscape mode feature. In addition, it will also sport the "Enhanced Continuum" and the Surface Pen.

Last August, the rumored Microsoft surface Phone 2016 has been first revealed by Nokia Power User and that this handset could be launched sometime between May and June 2016.
