Life is Strange Limited Edition 'On Disc' Will Ship January for PC, Xbox & PS4

Life is Strange limited edition box set will ship early 2016 for PC, Xbox, and PS4. Alice O'Connor of Rock Paper Shotgun details the contents of the set. "Along with the five episodes on disc, the box (a box! can you imagine! it’s not DRM-free, mind, still requiring Steam) will contain the score and licensed soundtrack on disc, a 32-page artbook, and director’s commentary."

O'Connor said that Square Enix wrote separate announcements for the European and North American release. The game will hit shelves January 22 for PAL territories, while the rest of the region will get the game earlier at January 19.

In a Gamespot article, Luc Baghadoust revealed that the limited edition was due to popular demand. He gushed that he was blown away by the warm reception the game got from gamers. "To be able to share that experience with our fans in a traditional boxed format is something we’re really excited about and the decision to include the extra items for the Limited Edition is a direct response to fan requests," said Baghadoust.

Life is Strange is one of the few cross-platform games that got relatively high reviews in all versions. The game got Metacritic scores from the high 70's to the high 80's.

The story spans five episodes and is released like a series similar to the Double Fine adventures. Life is Strange is a weird adventure game at heart with time traveling as one of its unique gameplay elements.

Heroine Max Caulfield is a curious 12th grade student with the power to rewind time. This power gave her the ability to help a murder victim. But she messes up a few timelines in the process. The game is full of twists and turns and becomes very dark after a few minutes. The game contains mild sexual undertones and violence.

Life is Strange is such a phenomenon. The game dismisses any gaming bias or boundaries. Eurogamer reporter Aoife Wilson says the game is a must play. "I can't think of any other games I've played that have become huge talking points across a diverse range of players, tackled surprisingly dark subject matter with sensitivity and respect, and made me feel nostalgic for a time in my life long past while still damn glad I'm not a teenager any more..."

Life is Strange Limited Edition will ship for PS4, Xbox One, and PC next year. The game is available for pre-order and will cost $40 for Xbox One and PS4 while the PC version will only cost $20.
