Jessa and Ben Seewald Finally Named their Baby Boy and it’s "Spurgeon".

By

Finally, Jessa and Ben Seewald has decided the name for their first baby. They decided to call him Spurgeon Elliot Seewald.

While fans were going crazy anticipating the reveal of the name for so long, there are quite some mixed reactions to this unusual name.

The official public introduction of the new addition to the Duggar family came thru a video posted in the family website. As Jessa cuddles her newborn, she talks about how the couple figured out their baby's name.

The 23-year-old said that though there were misconceptions claiming their child is named Quincy, it was only a nickname they had come up with ever since knowing she was pregnant. But it was not the name they had for him.

In fact, while other couples usually have readied a name for the baby even before it comes out, the Duggar-Seewald duo took some time before finally concluding their blessed child.

As people may know, the Duggars are TV reality celebrities known for their religious beliefs and it's no surprise that Jessa's baby would be referenced to people with holy associations.

The couple revealed in the video that they based the first name "Spurgeon" on a 19th century preacher named Charles Spurgeon. The duo claimed that the preacher had a big impact on their lives thru his sermons and writings. As for the middle name "Elliot", the couple said they named their baby in honor of missionaries Jim and Elisabeth Elliot.

While the couple is very happy and proud to present their first child's name, fans are quite dubious on their decision. Different comments around the web worry that the name if not uniquely funny, could also sound close to a dirty slang. In any case, everyone still congratulates the couple for having their first child and finally deciding their boy's name.

Here's to hoping that the kid grows up healthy and will love his name.
