The forthcoming prequel of the 2012 action adventure flick Snow White and the Huntsman has been officially renamed to The Huntsman: Winter's War. New posters have also been released for the film with its sizzling star-studded cast.
Chris Hemsworth's Erik will be back once again along with Charlize Theron's Queen Ravenna during the time before Snow White came into the picture. As the project nears its 2016 release date, USA Today reported that the posters for Hemsworth and Theron's characters along with new comers Jessica Chastain and Emily Blunt has been revealed.
Hemsworth was titled as "The Huntsman", Theron was "The Evil Queen", Chastain was "The Warrior", while Blunt was "The Ice Queen". The film is currently in post-production, and according to Hollywood Life, its first trailer is expected to be out on Wednesday.
The Huntsman: Winter's War features the betrayal of Ravenna's sister, Freya, who flees to a distant kingdom to build her own army only to find out that two of her most trusted warriors defied the one rule she set. "With Freya's ability to freeze any enemy, the young ice queen has spent decades in a remote wintry palace raising a legion of deadly huntsmen including Eric (Hemsworth) and warrior Sara (Chastain)-only to find that her prized two defied her one demand: Forever harden your hearts to love.", the film's description wrote.
Also, during his talk with Elle, Hemsworth said that he wanted to add humor to his character as well as sense of adventure. "We didn't want it to be too bogged down in being serious or self-important. It's a love story, essentially, between the Huntsman and his wife, who's played by Jessica Chastain, but it's also a road-trip movie. They team up and take off, them and a couple of dwarfs, on a quest", he said.
Many are wondering how things would turn out since the prequel will widen the world of the franchise and with Snow White out of the picture in The Huntsman: Winter's War. The forthcoming prequel is directed by Cedric Nicolas-Troyan, and screenplay by Craig Mazin and Evan Spiliotopoulos. It is slated to hit theaters in April 22, 2016.
