The roster is finally complete for the cast of the upcoming Power Rangers Reboot. The film was confirmed to retain the original names of the characters, although, the involvement of Green Ranger remains to be seen.
The Power Rangers cast is now complete as actors for the respective roles have been announced. As reported by NBC News, Naomi Scott is officially on board as Pink Ranger or Kimberly Hart, Dacre Montgomery as Red Ranger or Jason Lee Scott, Ludi Lin as Black Ranger or Zack Taylor, RJ Cyler as Blue Ranger or Billy Cranston, and the most recent addition is Becky Gomez as Yellow Ranger or Trini Kwan.
Plot details are scarce, although, Rita Repulsa and her minion, Scorpina, have been heavily linked to the film. Also with Saban Brands' reaction to director Samuel Khan's short film, the it is unlikely to adopt a darker tone and themes. As reported by Cheat Sheet, director Dean Israelite also revealed that the film will be "contemporary, mature, but still playful" as indicated in the script.
"I read the script and was really surprised by it and thought there was a really cool, contemporary, mature but still playful, buoyant and fun take on the material, and was updated in a really interesting way", Israelite said.
According to Den of Geek, filming for the upcoming Power Rangers Reboot is expected to commence early next year in Vancouver. Filming is expected to run from January 18, to April 12 2016 and will be done under the codename "Shirt". The project was initially slated to release in theaters in July 2016, however, due to box office reasons, it was later moved to an early 2017 release.
Dean Israelite is set to direct from screenplay by 'Thor' writers, Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz. It will be produced by Brian Casentini, Wyck Godfrey, Haim Saban, and Allison Shearmur. It is currently slated to hit theaters on January 13, 2017.
